1) NATIONAL SPORTS DAY:

          Department of Sports of Matoshree Vimalabai Deshmukh Mahavidhyalaya, celebrates National Sports Day on 29th August to commemorate the birth anniversary of hockey legend, Major Dhyan Chand. The day is also dedicated to the nations’ sports heroes and champions, honoring their contribution and dedication towards bringing laurels to the country. The aim of celebration of sports day is to raise awareness about the values of sports, discipline, perseverance, sportsman spirit, teamwork, and to encourage public in large to take up sports and make it an integral part of their lives while emphasizing on the importance of being fit and healthy.

National Sports Day on 29th August. On this day, Sport department of the College encourage the students/employees/staff to take part in sports/fitness activities.

Every year department of sports celebrate the national sports day. The National Sports Day is celebrated on August 29, the birth anniversary of hockey legend Major Dhyan Chand.

Dhyan Chand had played a key role in India's three consecutive Olympic triumphs in 1928, 1932 and 1936. Often referred to as ‘The Wizard’ for his incredible hockey skills, he scored over 400 goals in his career that lasted from 1926 to 1948.

Dhyan Chand's performance in the 1936 Berlin Olympic final is considered as one of his best. He was the top scorer in the game with 3 goals and India went on to easily defeat Germany 8-1.

2) The college seriously promotes the participation of students in extra-curricular and co-curricular activities. The college has sufficient outdoor and indoor games facilities within and outside the campus. The sports calendar regarding different sports activities issued by the Sant Gadgebaba Amravati University Amravati is strictly followed. The students take part in games organised at college/district/state/national levels of sports competition.

3) Student participation in various sports competitions across different levels during the last 5 years.
